GAK Vice Chairman

Mr. Peketsa Mangi is the General Manager of Geothermal Development at the Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen).

Mr. Mangi joined KenGen in 1997 as an Information Scientist. In 2009 he was promoted to Chief Research and Consultancy Officer. There he provided leadership and ensured effective management of staff and resources in the Research and Consultancy section. In 2016, he became KenGen‘s Manager of Geothermal Resource Development, in charge of geothermal resource exploration and development, Infrastructure, Environmental Management, Geothermal training, Consultancy, and Research. He was in charge of KenGen‘s Olkaria Spa project, which was modeled after the Blue Lagoon in Iceland, and has become a popular destination for visitors.

Mr. Mangi is currently a Doctor of Philosophy Student at Moi University. He graduated with a Master of Philosophy in Information Sciences in 1995 and a Bachelor of Science in Information Sciences in 1992 both from Moi University. He is a Certified Project Manager with IPMA (International Project Management Association) with a postgraduate diploma in Geothermal Projects Management and Financing from the United Nations University.

Besides his vast experience in geothermal development, he has undergone technical training in geothermal technology, drilling technology, and earth sciences.
