Kenya has a very rich history in geothermal resource development dating back to the 1950s when the first two exploratory wells were drilled. Before this, record books indicate that geothermal exploration started in the 1800s, mostly across the East Africa Rift Valley. These geothermal developments continue to make the country the geothermal hub in Africa, ranking in the top ten globally.
The Kenya Geothermal Congress (KGC) is a series of international geothermal conferences organized by the Geothermal Association of Kenya to promote the development of geothermal energy in Kenya. The Congress provided a platform for deliberations on performances, policies, industry best practices and much more.
Previous KGC Conferences:
- KGC 2011: Kenyatta International Convention Centre, Nairobi.
- KGC 2022: Emara Ole-Sereni Convention Centre, Nairobi.
