Geol. Mike Karanja – The Executive Officer

Geol. Mike Karanja is the Executive Officer of the Geothermal Association of Kenya. He is a Geologist with professional experiences in the Energy and Water Sectors in East Africa.

He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology from the University of Nairobi and is a Master of Science student pursuing an MSc. in Mineral Exploration from the same University.

Before, joining the Geothermal Association of Kenya, he served as the Drilling and Administration Manager at the Insta-Pumps Engineering Limited where he was in charge of all drilling activities, well siting, scheduling of drilling rigs and personnel, statutory compliance, and safety coordination among other administrative duties.

Before joining the Insta-Pumps Engineering Limited, he was the Head of Technical Services at Kipya Africa Limited.

Geol. Mike Karanja previously served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Water Industry Association. He has written various articles on water and energy sectors in Kenya, including promoting the use of geothermal energy on various social [@GeothermalKe] and professional platforms. He is an expert on matters Health, Safety and Environment at the workplace.

He is a member of the Geological Society of Kenya and an Associate Expert in Environmental Impact Assessment, registered with the National Environment Management Authority.

He is also a speaker and a moderator.
