Dr. Gathuru Mburu has over twenty years of experience in the earth sciences & industrial sectors. He is a Ph.D. graduate in mechanical engineering from Aberdeen University, UK.
In 2012 Dr. Gathuru founded Kipya Africa, a knowledge services company, where he is the Managing Director.
He previously worked for a global industrial, mining, oil & gas products company over a period of ten years and was based in Tanzania, Belgium, and the USA. His experience covers the industrial fields of surface mining, underground mining, oil & gas (on land and offshore), water, geothermal and geotechnical.
Dr. Gathuru is a founding member of the Mineral Rights Board in Kenya’s Ministry of Petroleum & Mining, a Member of the Energy & Extractives Sector Skills Advisory Committee of the TVET Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council, a Board Member of the Geothermal Association of Kenya and a Visiting Lecturer at Strathmore University, Nairobi.
Dr. Gathuru is also a member of the Strategy & Membership Committee and Legal Affairs & Nominating Committee of GAK.
